The average wedding in Colorado costs over $30,000. You’ve probably heard horror stories of weddings gone wrong and been thankful it wasn’t yours. But what if it was? Did you know you can purchase wedding insurance?
First of all, let’s clarify. This coverage is commonly referred to as wedding insurance; however, it is available for a majority of life’s celebrations such as a baby shower, bar/bat mitzvah, quiceanera, anniversary party, retirement and many events in between. Whether you are hosting the private event at your home or renting a venue, this coverage brings peace of mind.
Sudden illness or injury. Cancellation or postponement fees can be overwhelming. What if the bride is suddenly too ill to attend her own wedding? Or the father of the bar mitzvah honoree is injured and in the hospital?
Replace special attire. Your daughter has been dreaming about her wedding since she was a little girl. It took her months to find the right dress, then several more weeks to make sure all the alterations were perfect. What if that dress was lost as she flew to her destination wedding?
Photo and video problems. Of course you did your research to find a well respected photographer &/or videographer. Still, their camera malfunctions and your pictures are lost. Who would pay the expenses of reconvening the wedding party to capture those important (even if recreated) moments?
Extreme weather. You have been planning your parent’s 60th Anniversary to make sure all the family will be there. However, the day the guests were planning to fly in, a major blizzard closes DIA and all flights are cancelled. You’ll have to postpone, but who pays costs that can’t be recovered?
Issues with venue. The location for your celebration was meticulously picked and a deposit put down to guarantee it would be reserved for you. Now, just 2 weeks before the event, you learn that they have gone out of business. You lose your deposit and are left scrambling to find a new location (at a now higher cost). More money out of your pocket?
Liability from damage or injury caused during the event. Parties are fun and a time for people to let loose a little, maybe consume a little alcohol. What if Uncle Bob gets a little too carried away trying out his new moves on the dance floor? Who pays if he crashes into the DJ booth damaging the equipment and injuring Aunt Madge when the table collapses on her leg?
Wedding/Event insurance could cover all of these scenarios. More examples are available in the Protector Plan Brochure. For the best protection, we suggest adding liability coverage and, if alcohol is being served, liquor liability.
