What a beautiful weekend we just had. Hopefully you were able to get outside and enjoy it. This is the best time of year to enjoy the back patio. Whether you are inviting friends over for a BBQ or just reading a good book, we hope you have your patio, porch, or deck ready to go because Memorial Day is just around the corner.
We took full advantage of the 80 degree day on Saturday and headed up to Berthoud. First, we spent some time at my daughter Megan’s farm to see her newest goats. She has 5 new babies so far and has 3 more mama goats expecting in the next couple weeks. Busy spring at Freeman Farms!
As evening rolled around, we all headed into town to attend Guided Hope’s 5th Anniversary Celebration. They hosted it on the lawn of Calvary Church with a BBQ dinner, silent auction and dessert auction. This is their first event of this type and it appears they had a good response with about 200 people in attendance. Megan was in charge of bringing some of Guided Hope’s animal ambassadors from their ranch to the church for the children (and adults) to enjoy. Everyone seemed to love seeing the alpaca, rabbit, chicken, sheep and goats. Megan held the 2 week old goat a lot since all she wanted to do was sleep! Megan learned that Liberty, the alpaca, can be very stubborn and is not fond of the trailer – lots of spitting involved (I think mostly by Liberty). Thank heavens there was help around to finally get her loaded that evening. Check out pictures of the animals below.
We had a nice time and were happy to support such a great organization. They are getting ready for their spring clean up and will be starting round-ups again this month.. Check out their website at Guided Hope for more information. Spending a few hours in service has a way of encouraging your spirit.
We hope you find your own encouragement this spring!
